As a British artist living and working in France, my commitment to abstract geometric art has resulted in a large body of work that has been exhibited internationally.
Principles of geometry, scale and colour have led me to reject subject matter that deals with representation, as form and colour have their own innate reality.
The dynamics involved in the work reveal opposition and interplay between the vertical, horizontal and diagonal elements, based on what feels right to the eye and not just on exact mathematical theories of proportion or ideal ratios.
Works are created from a variety of sources and methods and are produced through organisation, choice, trial and experimentation using simple systems of construction.
Chance also plays a part in this creative process. Structure and colour perform key roles: structure the rational and colour being the emotive element.
Geometry forms the scientific building blocks of life itself.
